WELCOME!
The West Midlands Fire Service Pipe Band is a traditional Pipe Band based on the Highland Bagpipe with accompanying Snare and Tenor Drummers.

Based in Birmingham, the band is affiliated to the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and competes in contests throughout the UK. A major function of the band is to represent and be ambassadors for the West Midlands Fire Service, performing at public and community events such as parades, carnivals and Fire Service functions.

Members are volunteers from all walks of life and are of a wide age range. Currently the membership includes serving and retired Firefighters and Police Officers.

We are always looking to recruit new pipers and drummers, with or without playing experience. Please contact us via email and come and see a practise session, you will be made most welcolme. Tuition is free. Uniform items are supplied to members on loan free of charge as are instruments, although most pipers eventually buy their own bagpipe as it is an individual instrument and tends to be a lifetime hobby.

The Band wears Scottish uniform with Ancient Red Macpherson tartan. For formal occasions, such as Remembrance Day Parade, the traditional military style uniform is used, complete with feather bonnets and plaids. The No. 2 daywear style uniform is worn for less formal events and competitions.
